Natalie and I are looking at heading out to Colorado for a trip to start looking around and seeing what areas we might want to live when we move later in 2009. We had planned to go in December but with school and work I wasn't able to make the time for a trip. We're now thinking about going at the end of the month. With New Years Eve and New Years Day we could leave Tuesday night or Wednesday and I would only have to miss one day of work, Friday the 2nd. That would give us 4 or 5 days out there to look around.
I looked at flight/hotel/car info today on Priceline and on Travelocity, both came in around $1k for both of us to fly out there, hotel and a car for 4 nights.
Natalie suggested we drive, which I hadn't really considered, but with the price of gas right now I figured out it will probably cost us $259 in gas, here's how I figure that out.
It's ~853.8 miles from St. Louis to Denver according to Maps.Live.Com, add on 500 miles for travelling around in Colorado looking at areas and we come up with 2207.6 miles, at 17mpg in the Envoy, and using $2 a gallon for the price of gas, that comes out to be just around $259 round trip.
Now, if we can just talk one of our friends who live in Denver to let us crash there for a few nights we can really cust the cost of the trip down! Hopefully we can spend at least one day having some fun, besides travelling around CO, I want to try my new snowboard out!
